Interac eTransfer FAQs

Money is sent and received directly from and to your existing accounts, and the funds are available as soon as the transfer is complete. There's no need to set up a new account or user ID and password, and your personal information is never shared.

The funds are transferred using email addresses or mobile phone numbers, as well as a security question that only you and the recipient should know.

There is a $1.50 fee for sending an Interac eTransfer. This fee applies when you send money or fulfil a Request Money from someone else.

Receiving an Interac eTransfer is free for Outlook Financial members.

Standard text messaging and data rates may apply depending on your mobile provider.

Go to the Pending Interac eTransfer page, which shows all active Interac eTransfers. To see completed transfers, visit the eTransfer History page.

If the recipient has not deposited the funds, you can resend the notice by clicking Resend Notice beside the transfer status on the Pending Interac eTransfers page.

The transaction will expire after 30 days from the date sent and notification will be sent to the sender. The sender then has 30 additional days (i.e., 60 days from the day it was originally sent) to cancel the transaction and reclaim the funds by clicking Cancel beside the transfer status on the Pending Interac eTransfers page. If the sender does not cancel the transaction after 60 total days, it will be automatically cancelled. The funds will be credited back to the sender's account and a $5.00 cancellation fee will be applied. The initial service charge will not be refunded.
